Discarded Flower on Broadway

I saw this flower lying on the sidewalk and thought how we live in a world of disposable beauty. Initially I thought the flower was real, perhaps one sold by a street entrepreneur trying to make enough money for their next meal. When I stopped to take the photo I realized it was silk or at least some synthetic material. Manufactured. A copy made to look like a copy. Disposable beauty excused by artifice. A different kind of story.
